Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches

As I mentioned in my very first blog post, Hello World!, I started working at a local university a couple of years ago when we moved to this area. The beginning of a new semester is a very busy time at work (i.e., the past 2 weeks!) with extended office hours, phones ringing off the hooks, a never-ending line of students and parents with questions, and overall mass chaos. At the end of each exhausting day, the last thing I felt like doing was standing in the kitchen — I love my crockpot! Continue reading

Taco Tuesday (2)

Taco Tuesday Vol. 1: Crockpot Taco Soup

Hello, my name is Kelly and I am a TACO ADDICT. Hubby and I go through taco seasoning faster than probably every other spice in the cabinet combined. I am trying to implement Taco Tuesday as a weekly ritual in our home, but I’m in need of a wider variety of recipes. The last thing I want to do is get burnt out on tacos!Crockpot Taco SoupAnd that’s what brings us to one of my all-time favorite crockpot recipes: Taco Soup! Continue reading

Comfort Food: Jalapeño Popper Totchos & Spinach-Artichoke Dip

Tonight, Hubby and I will be watching the UFC fight at home. (Caffeine please! These fights usually end after midnight!) While I am not a big sports fan, I love watching UFC and MMA fights with Hubby. Sometimes we will go to a sports bar to watch the fight with lots of beer, fried appetizers, and loud conversations – it’s definitely a fun environment! So I was trying to bring some of the fun and food home with Jalapeño Popper Totchos and Crockpot Spinach-Artichoke Dip.  Continue reading

If I Won the Lottery…

Powerball Jackpot

With a jackpot of $1.5 billion, everyone seems to be talking about the Power Ball. In some cities, people have been waiting in line for HOURS just to purchase a ticket from a convenience store that has sold winning tickets in the past. While filming these ridiculous lines, some reporters have been asking random people what they would do if they won. Most people say things like ‘travel the world’ and ‘pay off debt’.  Continue reading

Blue Moon Beer Bread with Honey Cinnamon Butter

Blue Moon Bread CoverI recently found a simple recipe for 5-ingredient beer bread while playing on Pinterest. I’ve never baked bread before so I was a little intimidated, but decided to give it a try. Worst case scenario, if it was horrible, I would just get rid of the evidence before Hubby came home from work. Plus, it gave me a reason to pick up some Blue Moon (my favorite!) so even if it didn’t turn out, I’d still have 11 bottles of beer to keep me company. Haha! Continue reading

9 TIps Procrastination

9 Tips to Avoid Procrastination

Today marks the end of another semester of grad school for me (yippee!) and, yet again, I waited until the eleventh hour to complete my coursework. Throughout my entire schooling career, I have been a procrastinator. For whatever reason, I simply cannot force myself to complete an assignment until I am so close to the deadline that I am in full panic mode. Then, I’m pep-talking myself the same way someone with a killer hangover does —  Continue reading

Happy Thanksgiving!

From my family to yours, hope you have a wonderful day filled with family, friendship, food, and fun. My mom put together an adorable (and festive!) fruit tray for us to pick at while the turkey is in the oven – healthy & delicious!

Apple Pie Moonshine

The first time I ever tried apple pie moonshine was at a wedding in Lima, OH in 2012 when the bride’s mother snuck a large mason jar of it over to our table. Hubby and I each took a swig, and O.M.G. it honestly tasted like someone had liquefied an apple pie. Once we got home, the search was on for our own recipe. We tried several different cooking methods (brown sugar vs. white sugar, leaving cinnamon sticks in the jars) and mixing various alcohols (Captain Morgan, vodka, etc.) before Hubby developed his own.
